The Official Website of Joel W. Cade

Hit the Line

Joel W. Cade was born and raised in Piqua, Ohio. From an early age, Joel wanted nothing more than to play football for the Piqua Indians. But after suffering a traumatic experience, he was just trying to survive each day. Off the field, everyone was dangerous and everywhere a battlefield. Yet, it was on the football field where Joel was most alive. It was the one place where he could control his own destiny. It was his safe place. That is, until it wasn’t.

On November 28, 1992, Joel and the Piqua Indians faced the Goliath of Ohio High School football in the Cincinnati St. Xavier Bombers. Their players were “recruited” from all over Cincinnati. This Cincinnati super team was assembled for one purpose – to win the state championship. All the same, Joel and the Indians would not simply roll over and die.

This is Joel’s last stand. It is his final game as a Piqua Indian. It is the pressure cooker that brings the moment of truth. Will Joel crumble in the face of the greatest challenge of his life? Or will he rise from the ashes transformed?
